School bus app features: live map, ETA, alerts and attendance
Last checked: 10 October 2026. Our own product. My School Ride is a product of Satcop India Pvt. Ltd. How we compare
Quick answer
My School Ride gives parents one app for the school bus. You see the bus on a live map, get an ETA, and get an alert when the bus is about 2 km from your stop, so your child is not waiting at the gate for twenty minutes. The app is set up by your school; My School Ride is made by Satcop India Pvt. Ltd. and is used by 200+ schools. If you just want to follow your child's bus, start with our bus tracking app for parents guide.
What you see in the parent app
| Feature | What it does for you |
|---|---|
| Live bus map and ETA | See where the bus is now and roughly when it will reach your stop. |
| Alert about 2 km before the stop | Time to put shoes on and walk to the stop, not stand there guessing. |
| Pickup and drop reminders | A nudge for the morning and afternoon run. |
| Several children on one screen | Siblings on different buses, in one view. |
| Attendance view | Where the school uses RFID cards, see when your child boarded and got off. |
| Leave requests | Tell the school your child will not travel today. |
| School announcements | Route changes and delays from the school, in the app instead of a dozen WhatsApp groups. |
| Call the driver | One tap when you really need to reach the bus. |
| Several languages | Use the app in the language you are comfortable with. |
An optional live camera view is available only where the school has cameras and has turned the feature on.
Where is my school bus? How the location reaches your phone
The bus carries a 4G GPS device that sends its location about every 5 seconds. It is fitted to the bus, so tracking does not depend on the driver's phone. That location feeds the map in your app. If the mobile signal dips, the device keeps tracking.
A morning with the app
For example: the pickup reminder comes in, then the app says the bus is about 2 km away, so you walk your child to the stop. The bus arrives, your child taps the RFID card and the attendance view shows the boarding. In the afternoon it works the other way round. If the bus is running late, you see it on the map instead of calling the school office.
What the school controls
The school decides which alerts are on, who can see what, and how announcements are sent. SOS alerts from the driver and attendant go to the school admin, and the school decides how to inform parents. Read more in what parents actually see in a school bus app.
